Your VSP doctor’s office just called and the new trendy eyeglasses you chose are ready to be picked up. Now that you have the perfect accessory to compliment your look, here are some makeup tips to keep you looking good in your new frames!
Tip 1: Groom your eyebrows.
While your new glasses frame those beautiful eyes, your brows frame your glasses so you’ll want them looking fresh. Be sure to brush your brows and pluck or wax any straggler hairs.
Tip 2: Choose the right mascara.
When choosing your mascara – read the packaging. Does it say the mascara will volumize or lengthen your lashes? These types of mascaras could cause your lashes to hit your lenses. Your best bet is to choose one that says it’s going to curl your lashes. If you’re loyal to a particular mascara, you can also use an eyelash curler. This should help keep your lashes away from your lenses.
Tip 3: Use less foundation on your nose.
Glasses can make a temporary indentation on the sides of your nose when you wear them for long periods of time. The best way to solve this problem is by wearing less foundation on your nose. Still want coverage? Use a thin layer of a matte foundation. If you have oily skin, it’ll help keep the lines from forming.
Tip 4: Find a good concealer.
One thing you won’t be able to avoid while wearing glasses is the shadows they’ll cast under your eyes. The best way to brighten that area up is by using a good concealer. Try one that’s labeled “eye brightening.” This will lighten the dark circles and enhance your eye shape.
Tip 5: Magnify your eyes with earthy tones.
Earthy tones are a great go-to for any eye color, so using the same rule for glasses applies. If your glasses are a standard black or brown, you can play with blue and green shadows. If your glasses are a brighter color like red or plum, try a bronze or a smoky look.
Tip 6: The right frames are essential.
The most important thing to remember is glasses are a fun accessory, but they also serve a purpose of helping you in life’s moments throughout the day. Choose frames you’ll be confident in whether you’re dolled up or you’re makeup free at home. To find the right frames for your face, visit a VSP network doctor for an eye exam and fitting.
