It’s the season of the sneezes.
The allergic reaction that you experience affects the mucous membranes of the eyes and nose. It is caused by an overreaction by the immune system to the pollens that it has come in contact with. This immune response triggers inflammation and the release of histamine which causes the symptoms. These include, a runny or itchy nose, itchy roof of the mouth, watery itchy eyes and sneezing, all of which can be extremely uncomfortable and annoying.
There are a number of steps needed in order to reduce your symptoms so that you can feel better such as, supporting your immune system, reducing inflammation, and inhibiting the release of histamine. At the same time avoid any food that you know you are sensitive to so that your body can function at an optimal level. Use natural body care and household products if you are sensitive to perfumes.
Quercetin is a natural remedy that helps to relieve symptoms. Its main functions are to inhibit the release of histamine and reduce inflammation.
Quercetin is found in raw red onions, broccoli, red apples, cranberries, and blueberries. Your diet should also include plenty of immune supporting foods. These are brightly coloured fruit and vegetables, nuts, seeds and gogi berries. Drink herbal teas like Echinacea, Elderberry, Rosehip, and eat local honey. Try bee pollen sprinkled over your food.
Talk to your local health store about how you can reduce your symptoms, so that you can enjoy the summer just like everybody else.
